Exo-Squad WIP Update: DONE! in Custom Workstation by TheRubicon
Saturday, August 29, 2020
   [Edit]
Sculpt is finished. These pics are side by side with the original factory figures. I’ll be nit-picking them and sanding a little here and there, and then when i get brave, I’ll start priming and painting.

Update 9/8 taking a break from them so i don’t obsess over it and ruin them. In the meantime, please make some observations and critiques?

Thanks Mist! Good to see you again. I’m completely whiffing it on the faces though. Talking about farming that out so I don’t ruin the whole thing just trying over and over.

If you can find a decent 3D model of the sword I can 3D print it with resin for like 6-7 bucks.

Figma Joints in Custom Workstation by BuriedOnSunday
Wednesday, September 9, 2020
   [Edit]
I took a look around for possible answers to this but can't seem to find any. First time using a Figma figure for a custom and I am having a hard time painting the joints and having the paint stay on. Not due to them rubbing up against the limbs they're connecting, I've prepped them to eliminate paint rub. It's just the joints moving themselves that seems to peel the paint off relatively quick.

They've had time to dry. I've moved them as they dry to make sure it's not just them being connected that's causing it. I've even added a layer of crazy glue with a brush on tip as a sealent. Nothing seems to work. Is there some specific way to prep them? Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

EDIT:
I'm using Model Master acrylic paint and light...[See More]

Some plastics simply don't accept paint, Transformers are notorious for this too.

•Sand to get rid of shiny slippery surface.
•Use a primer that "bites", I think it's called etching primer
•Brush superglue on top to seal ...

I reccomend cutting of the front skirt, but keeping the belt section intact. You don't have to remove the legs, heat up the torso and then remove it from the waist. Before you go any further though I highly reccommend looking at all the tutorials we have on this site. They'll give you all the info you need to work on a custom.

If you have the patience and very small pliers you can buy small chains and weave the loops together.
