VHT paint sticky on figure in Custom Workstation by Thunderstrike14
Thursday, October 18, 2018
   [Edit]
Some people on here suggested that I should use VHT flat white when painting a figure flat white to prevent the paint from showing brush Strokes but when I tried it on my Dc Universe Manhunter some of the parts came out sticky or tacky so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong....[See More]

Some plastics react badly to the chemicals in spray paint, usually softer plastics.

VHT makes different types of spray paint, they also make spray dye (that's what I use), so you'll have to do some trial and error to see what the problem is.

Fodder for 1/18 figures in Custom Workstation by TheRubicon
Wednesday, October 10, 2018
   [Edit]
Hello People of the Realm!
So, after seeing all the amazing work being done on 1/18 blanks and MU figs, I decided to look into the scale a little deeper and discovered that I can actually afford this hobby if I work at that scale! what a concept! that said, I got some incredible advice from Dravenheart and great direction to a couple resources, such as Boss Fight Studios, Marauders Inc, Raging Spoon, and Avacs. I'm looking for more resources that you all have personal experience with. Specifically, i'm looking for armor bits, hair pieces, random MU fodder parts, vehicles, mechs, and playset/diorama pieces. load me with links, folks!

thanks as always!

I know!! Great stuff. Thanks for the links and the well wishes. We're down at the Mayo for her third chemo treatment, and while that's not exactly a b12 shot, she's getting a little better everyday!

hey there!
I know it was about fodder parts in general, but if you want a good adress for cheap bases at that scale you can may check this here too: http://gonativetoys.com/store_figure.html
I got some of them, but I'm still a little scared of sculpting such tiny stuff^^ what I can say is that these figs are pretty cool and really 'superarticulated'.each one comes with three pairs of hands and two heads,so a little fodder is included but unfortunately they also need some paintrub-prevention on the joints.best greetings and wishes again!

Removing Testors Acrylic from figures. in Custom Workstation by RadicalJesterXL
Thursday, October 4, 2018
   [Edit]
Hello all, I've looked through the tutorials ( I'm new at this ) and haven't found anything on what to do when you mess up. I've been doing eyes on a figure and I'm a perfectionist and I haven't been fully happy with the applications. I was using acetone to remove and start over but on the 3rd time it actually seemed to eat away at the plastic and left craters on the face. Is there anything to use that will remove the Acrylic paints, but not compromise the integrity of the figure? Thanks in advance....[See More]

Yes, thank you guys. I ended up using the alcohol inks blending solution. Works like a charm.

what Dave said. also, if it's something that can be thinned with water, try a soft toothbrush (dollar-store type) and warm soapy water. And then you can use alcohol to remove any residue.

You can soak it in Simple Green and/or wipe off with 90% isopropyl. NEVER use acetone on plastic.
Head suggestions in Custom Workstation by heatherly84
Tuesday, October 2, 2018
   [Edit]
It's that time again! I want to make a custom of Abby from Santa Clarita Diet (played by actress Liv Hewson). Anyone got any suggestions for a head with a good resemblance? Body is going to be ML White Tiger, so that's the scale/neck joint type I'm hoping it'll be compatible with. That said, I can shrink or enlarge a cast, so that's not THE most important thing....[See More]

I have a Danger Girl head, also I think called Abby, that could probably do the job.

Maybe the old Toy Biz Kitty Pride, the head was somewhere between 6 and 5 inch scale, should look fine on the smaller female ML body
Gluing cloth in Custom Workstation by bjpalm1994
Wednesday, October 3, 2018
   [Edit]
Hey guys, question. I am trying to attach a cloth tunic to a figure but when I use super glue the fabric just soaks it up. What is the best way to attach fabric to a figure? I haven't tried hot glue yet but looking for some help. Thanks in advance! ...[See More]

Hot glue would be a good solution, assuming you can do it neatly.

You can keep using superglue until the area you're gluing becomes so saturated/stiff that it finally sticks to the plastic. I've been doing that (ModPodge/superglue) with the cloth skirts on Clonetroopers, but I'm definitely looking for a better solution.

something else I've done fixing up my kids dolls is taking the new material, deliberately soaking about a 2cm thick line across the top, folding that under and ironing it, then glued that line to the doll/figure. same as Hnechmen said, just the process. hides the glue, makes a clean line of the clothing, and provides some rigidity for pleats and so on.
Head Casts from Ebay [Quick Review] in Custom Workstation by Henchmen4Hire
Tuesday, October 2, 2018
   [Edit]
I recently found a seller (chric-36) with Star Wars head casts, they have a few 6 inch and 3.75 inch scale heads/helmets. I decided to get three Phase 2 Clonetrooper helmets because I get requests for P2 Clone customs often. As a bonus they live near me, so shipping time is very quick.

The casts are okay. There are the usual pin holes from bubbles in places from not using a pressure pot. Most of the ugly is under the helmets where you can't see it, but unfortunately the respirator area suffers a little too. I don't like fixing intricate areas like that because one of the main reasons to buy head casts is to save time not having to sculpt stuff.

SuperPowers Batmobile 84 restoration-windows in Custom Workstation by Froggie19Dude
Sunday, September 23, 2018
   [Edit]
Hey everybody, just found my toys from childhood--Batman--and thinking of doing some restoration. The 84 Super Powers Batmobile has notoriously fragile windows, and I was thinking of trying to find a way to do replacements. Who has any experience in recasting such things and can offer a few tips?

Hmm...I'm not sure how to best match the color. The only thing I've seen that looks like that is a popcorn bowl.
