Need help finding a 1990s obscure action figure set! in Identify Help by moondawg
Thursday, May 8, 2014
   [Edit]
I promise I've done my share of scouring and lurking, but I've been searching for this one set of action figures for far too long now. Hopefully the detectives can help me out!

I bought the set in Georgia, USA sometime from 1994 to 1996. There were (as far as I could tell) a set of three action figures, humanoid (semi-power rangers?) with metallic clip on armor. Each was a different color and animal; red blue and green (most likely) and I'm not sure what the animals were. I believe they had vehicles/mounts as well. I don't believe they were part of any large franchise.

Unfortunately that's all I can remember, and I apologize for that.

Thank you for reading!...[See More]

could it be ronin warriors from playmates?

They were ~6" figures, and while Saint Seiya is amazingly similar (the armor had the same metallic finish), it wasn't nearly as nice of quality and didn't seem to be japanese influenced. Almost the same concept though, the snap-on armor and accompanying mounts. They weren't very Power Ranger in appearance or design, just that there were "color coded warriors."

This is setting my search in a better direction, so thank you so much! I'll continue looking as well.

Can you remember what scale the figures were (3-3/4", 6", etc.)? They might have just been Power Rangers knockoffs/bootlegs.

Saint Seiya maybe?

UPDATE: Tue Jul 08, 2014 - New Item Down Below, Headless Action Figure

Before I begin, I do know of the figures and what they are. I'm just looking for information on them, to see if anyone else has come across them or where they may have come from. Any help will be useful. I picked up these figures for less than dollar during MegaCon.

The first one appears to be a knock-off of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I think it may be a Mexican knockoff, but as you can see from the pictures, it's actually quite different in some ways. The head, arms and legs look to be molded from the TMNT figures (circa 1989), but have been modified. The upper arms appear to add more articulation by having ball-joints (the same with the upper portion of t...[See More]

Didn't have much luck in spotting the Turtle Bootleg figure in the post linked. But glad to see the possibility that my initial assessment of the figure being a bootleg could be close to spot on. It could be a custom, but I don't think I've seen any customs like this before.

I'm wondering for the Gamera figure if the word "Takara" is the name of the company, and am interested to see what the translation of the characters on the other foot says.

Thanks for the info so far. Can't wait to hear back about the info on the Gamera figure.

The Technodrome Forums has a rather extensive thread on bootleg TMNT figures (51 pages); I'd recommend looking through that to see if you recognize yours (there's also an outside chance that what you have is someone's custom piece):

Yeah, that's definitely Gamera. I'll need to consult my Japanese word processing program, when I get home, to identify the kanji on the bottom of Gamera's foot, but I should be able to get back to you on what they say (probably a company name).

Avengers assemble! This is a 2.3" (5.8 cm) tall 2005 Hasbro/Marvel Captain America mini action figure. I'm not sure what line/assortment of toys this particular version of Steven Rogers is from though, so, I'm hoping one of you can tell me. The sculpt is impressive; there are lots of fine details, right down to the canteen bottle on the back of the belt and the scale-mail texture pattern on his shirt. The shield has a small wedge of plastic shaved off the bottom (probably an artifact from the molding process), which is the only physical flaw on an otherwise outstanding rendition of the character. The paint is a tad sloppy here-and-there, b...[See More]

Thanks for the shout out sir! I'm pretty good with searches and I'm pretty sure my son had one of the tubes from Toys R Us. Definitely looks like a retool. Glad to help!

That looks like him to me, thanks! I spent quite a while searching on Google images and eBay--sure, I got hundreds of hits for "Captain America figure/toy", but I never saw any photos of this particular one when I looked. The brighter paintjob on mine seems to match the one in the Face Off tube 3-pack. Anyhoo, I gave you credit, on my web site, in my write-up for the figure, for helping me identify what line he's from.

Interestingly, I noticed that Toy Biz's name is on the package in the first photo, but mine has a Hasbro copyright mark--they must have retooled the mold to reflect the company change.

Need help finding 1990s Spiderman animated mini playset in Identify Help by inging17

   [Edit]
Hi everyone, I looked up every single site for a special playset of Spiderman Animated series. Basically its a building with mini figures. Spiderman is magnetic and crawl up the wall. I had this back then but lost almost everything. The only remain was the building shown in the attached picture. Mostly, you will only the daily bugle set on the net but I really want to know where to find this mini figure magnetic set. The building is purple, one of the mini figures included was Kraven. I have a picture of it but since I'm a newbie I don't know how to upload pic directly from my computer rathern than via URL...[See More]

Thanks for the quick reply. No thats not the one I have a pic of the building here but don't know how to upload it. The building is quite big and the figures are smaller than that.

Identify this dragon-like creature for me? in Identify Help by Patraw

Here's another mystery figurine from a bag of secondhand toys that I bought the other day. Anybody know what this thing is? It looks like some kind of techno-organic winged dragon. My best guess is a Pokemon, but maybe it's a figurine from some other game/anime/manga or a playing piece from a tabletop rpg? It stands 1.7" (4.2 cm) tall at the tips of its wings. It's a static sculpture without any articulation, and the fact that the base is a half circle implies that it's meant to connect to another figure with a similar stand. The figure is molded from smokey transparent plastic which allows light to shine through the unpainted areas. Othe...[See More]

If the figure has both the Thing's arms and Mr. Fantastic's body, the only things I can figure are (1) the Thing wearing one of his Fantastic Four costumes that covers a lot of his body, (2) Super Skrull or (3) somebody's custom figure.

Is it something like this?

Found this guy in a storage box in my basement. I've had him since I was a kid but I never knew where or what he came from. He's about 12 inches tall, and is made up of 3 different pieces, that top part with the head (and what looks like a bigger, mech type head, maybe for a final form?), the drill looking middle and thetank tread/fold together legs....[See More]
