Looking for some 1/10th legs, don't know where to start in Custom Workstation by PpinoCustoms
Friday, October 20, 2023
   [Edit]
I have a project in mind, but I'm kinda lost on what recipe to go for. I'm working on a female figure which will be taller than usual and have really long legs. I was thinking of kitbashing legs from a 1/10th figure onto a ML body.
Ideally, I'm looking for legs that are somewhat smooth or that lack detail sculpt, that are not too skinny, with good articulation and without heels or boots.
McFarlane Superwoman from the Starro BAF was exactly what I was looking for from a sculpt standpoint but I believe the figure's probably way too big for what I had in mind. Any suggestions?...[See More]

I am glad you found something that worked out well! I also do not have a large fodder bin (yet). I have a few duplicate figures, and some broken figures in need of repair, but those are mostly ARAH and I don't really want to scrap them.

I don't do any customizing (yet, I am sure you all will be a bad/good influence), but a quick search on the bay popped up a couple of options.

I am just curious, since many lines are constructed differently, do you run into "compatibility" issues, or do you just come up with work arounds on the fly to make parts with different style connections work?

I ended up finding an Arkham Classic Harley Quinn and used those legs. I popped off Moonstone's and Harley's just fit perfectly. Work arounds are usually pretty easy to figure out, the most crucial thing to me is nailing the proportions, having a big spare parts bin (which I don't lol) also really helps.
I've been following this forum for like 10 years but only joined a couple of months ago. Good luck on your customizing! I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun

I have this figurine (with the box), and id like to sell it but I dont know how much to put it up for or how to get it valued. I know there was only 500 made but I can't find any reference to how much they have been sold for.

Has anyone got any ideas or tips?

Unless there is recent sales history online, really hard to say. Only Plan B figurines/busts that I could see any sales for were Dark Crystal.
Indiana Jones Adventure Series - the Future? in Action Figure Chatter by Demis Russos

   [Edit]
Hi. New to the forums here. I have been collecting the Indiana Jones Adventure Series collection of 6" figures. I am wondering if anyone knows if Hasbro plans to continue the line beyond the current run of figures.

I am bemused at the fact they haven't released a wide variety of characters and the obvious ones - Mola Ram, Willie Scott, various Nazis have been totally absent in any discussion about the release....[See More]

It is Hasbro, they will keep pumping out whatever makes money.

So whether or not they continue the line is really going to depend on fan uptake. Quick glance over at Pusle, 4 figures from the line are currently sold out.

I don't know how that compares to SW Black, ML, and GI Joe classified sales.
ML Super-Adaptoid custom wings in Custom Workstation by Dormammu-1976

   [Edit]
I'm getting the horrendously done ML Super-Adaptoid - Hasbro made it so he can't even strap on the damned shield! - so I gotta tweak that. But I also wanted to give him some classic wings like in his first appearance. Any suggestions on how this could be done?...[See More]

So the early Super-Adaptoid wings are kind of an odd shape. Honestly, I would go look at some random plastic kitchen spoons at the dollar store etc., and cut them down and add any additional detail you want with fodder/sculpt. Once they are hit with the same base paint, and any dry brush/weathering that you apply to the rest of the figure, I don't think most people would know that the wings didn't come with it.

That is if you are going for a Tales of Suspense 84 cover type appearance. If you are going more for an X-men ('63) 29 cover appearance, you could probably just get away with cutting some styrene.

No, all the ML Wasp wings would be too small because the Super-Adaptoid is 12" tall.
MGS1 Solid Snake in Custom Workstation by DaniellePlaysWithToys

   [Edit]
I own the McFarlane Toys one, but he looks fugly. (Cue "NO, THAT IS NOT SOLID SNAKE!!" I wanted to make my own one in the style of the '60s GI Joe figures (mainly so I can ship him with the Nurse... heh heh)

How tall were those old GI Joes and which newer ones match them?? The Nurse isn't on eBay RN, but her accessories are. There's a Vietnam Nurse from 1999, which is close, but no cigar.

I might wanna make Iroquois Pliskin too, because he also hot....[See More]

OG Joes are 12" dolls. The original, and the '90s and later rereleases should all be essentially the same size. I don't have any OG, only the '90s dolls, so I can't tell you the minor differences that may exist.

Anyone experimented around with any of his paints yet? I am intrigued to say the least. I have a friend that paints miniatures, and she's tried out quite a few of his paints with pleasing results. She uses them along with the standard lines of paints popular for miniatures like Citadel....[See More]
3D Models for Printing? in Custom Workstation by KnightTakesPawn
Wednesday, October 18, 2023
   [Edit]
Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I've uploaded a custom but that's because I've been busy developing a new line of toys! The prototypes all work perfectly but I need to be able to replicate the results. I've touched base with 3D modelers / printers but they primarily work in technical fields like architecture and aren't well versed in human anatomy or action figures. I've reached out to 3D gurus on Instagram but I either get immediate "No" or crickets. So I've returned home...to the 'Realm.

I need a 3D modeller. Nothing fancy but there are specifications. No textures, no details, no "character". I'm talking mannequin-level basic. It just needs to fit together in a specific way. If anyone has experience 3D modeling / printing action...[See More]

I've tried to find someone for a similar gig with similar results. The people who are good enough to sculpt good figures, good portraits, etc. tend to want salary gigs at a studio or simply launch a patreon. They also tend to get weird about how you use the models. You pay them to make a model and then they're like, "Whoa there, not so fast, you can't use my model for anything unless you pay me an extra $1000!"

And yeah, being good at sculpting a figure doesn't mean they're good at making functional joints, and vice versa.

I've been messing around with 3d printed joints and I print parts for figures in resin. ( UndergroundJunkHole.etsy.com ) ...
Mockingbird (Marvel) in Trading Post by Xiphos
Updated Tuesday, October 17, 2023
   [Edit]
If you have any customs you've made of Mockingbird that are collecting dust. Post some pictures, and your asking price. Sadly, it is too easy to collect all of the factory produced figures for Mockingbird, so I am in search of some customs to add to the collection.

If you have open commissions, I would be interested in an old school Mockingbird costume MTU #95 style. Shoot me a message here on the site, and we can hash out details....[See More]
THE LEGENDS OF GOTHAM CITY: A Custom Action Figure Exhibit in Custom Workstation by darklord1967
Updated Monday, October 16, 2023
   [Edit]
Well as some of you know, I have long been working on a "Legends of Gotham City" line of 1:9 scale (8 inch) action figures and toys.

The figures feature all-original ball-jointed bodies with original head-sculpts, and originally patterned / fabricated clothing and accessories / weapons.

There are 14 characters in the line: 4 heroes, 6 villains, and 4 Secret Identity Characters.

Most recently, as I began to show my work at conventions and Toy shows, I decided that I wanted my figure displays to be as grand as possible.

Instead of simply displaying my action figure work on a comic con tabletop, I thought it might be a lot more fun and impressive to pose the characters in elaborate diorama scenes.

That idea quickly evolved into e...[See More]
