A similar version of Hawgirl was one of my first customs waaaaaaaayyyyyyy back in 2012. Hard to believe it's been that long. I'm a huge of fan of the JSA so it only made sense to add a Kendra Saunders version to my own collection. Sadly, this one was a commission that's a lot better, in small ways, than my earlier attempt. While the formula is the same, the sculpting is much cleaner, and for some reason in my first attempt I took the original belt from DC Direct Hawkgirl an inexplicably chopped the pouches off and lazily glued it to the DCUC belt. Blah. Why I didn't just heat the belt up and slide it up the legs is beyond me now, but I was new to the hobby back then, and you learn things as you go along. So I'm much happier with this version, which in turn, makes me kind of sad because it's much nicer than the one I have myself. But to fix that I'd need another Hawkgirl belt since I butchered my own long ago.


So Kendra is pretty much the DCUC Shayera Hawkgirl body with the head and helmet from the DC Direct JSA Hawkgirl. The wrist tape is sculpted on, and in another difference from mine, the chest is filled in a little more to give her a more natural looking bust. I also repainted the head on this version to match the skintone of the rest of the figure, something I didn't have the courage (or maybe just the tiny paint brushes) to do on my previous version. Overall, simple changes, but together I think it presents a nice Kendra Saunders to differentiate herself from the JLA Shayera Hawkgirl we got from Mattel.


Now I just need to redo mine someday.
