I posted my Harry Osborn Green Goblin custom a little while ago, and I've known for awhile that I wanted a Molten Man to display alongside him. I have fond memories of the story where Harry has his crazy family dinner with Mark and Liz Allen. As for the custom, in some ways it ended up a lot simpler then I originally planned. While I definitely wanted something a bit more classic than some of the more modern Human Torch-like customs I've seen, I was thinking I'd do kind of a middle ground. I got a spray gold for a base coat, had some washes and a brighter gold ready for layering... and then I saw what he looked like with just the gold spray and it was basically perfect right out of the can. The choices for body and head, however, were a bit more frustrating. I ended up getting a Namor as my base due to him being at my local Wal Mart, though in hindsight I should have swapped out his arms rather than trying to remove the wristbands by hand. It still turned out fine, it just would have been a bit easier overall. As for the head, it's probably the reason this custom took a good 4 months to finish. I've seen some different heads used by various customizers on here, but I was never 100% on them. I was going to settle for a Wonder Man head with resculpted hair (I liked one custom that used the old WM figure as a base but the head was too small for a modern ML) but while I was looking around for a Mac Gargan Venom head for a custom I'll be posting soon, I came across an Eddie Brock custom casted head that was absolutely perfect. Overall, a bit of a simpler custom, but it's still a perfectly serviceable Molten Man for my collection. ![]() |
