I always wanted to make a custom Conan based on the old Frank Frazetta art on the Robert E. Howard book covers. Once I saw the Mezco One:12 Punisher head sculpts I knew it was time. This figure was a blast to make and designed to fit in with Marvel Legends, Mezco One:12 or Mythic Legions. I used a Marvel Legends Red Guardian, and Walgreens Exclusive Namor for the base. I incorporated ball and socket shoulder articulation for much more range of motion necessary for wielding bladed weapons. I sculpted over the existing torso and arms with a combination of Milliput and ProCreate to thicken up the pecs, lats, biceps and triceps giving Conan some much needed muscle mass and texturized the body to give the skin a “realistic” appearance. I gave him ball swivel wrists to pose the hands in any direction needed and the hands themselves are from various DCUC and Marvel Legends figures (some resculpted). The heads are casts from the Mezco One:12 Punisher. The standard head was dremeled down and the hair from Marvel Legends Sentry was glued in place and resculpted with ProCreate to allow a little more flexibility. I also sculpted hoop earrings and new earlobes into the standard head. The helmeted head (my personal favorite) was dremeled down and I used the top portion of the head from DC Collectibles Films Premium Armored Batman to make the base and the tips of the horns from Marvel Legends Odin BAF and the ponytail of Marvel Legends Sharon Carter and sculpted a bit more hair with ProCreate. The garments are mix of different fabrics, faux leather and metal buckles. The weapons are a mix of Marvel Legends fodder with handles made of wooden dowels and faux leather wrappings (all of which can be stored on him). He has a removable harness and cloak that attaches with hidden magnets and buckles which can also stores the large axe. The figure was airbrushed, glazed, mottled, and dryburshed with Tamiya acrylics. I’m quite happy with this one. Enjoy!
