Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde, was born in Deerfield, Illinois, daughter of Carmen and Teresa Pryde. Born Jewish by descent, her paternal grandfather, Samuel Prydeman, was in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Kitty began to have headaches at thirteen, which indicated the appearance of her mutant powers. Kitty Pryde, in manifesting her mutant powers, sought help from both Professor Charles Xavier and Emma Frost, who at that time was the White Queen of the Hellfire Club. His distrust of Emma made Kitty choose to prefer Xavier's option. Shortly after their first meeting, Kitty would end up helping the X-Men fight Emma Frost herself.2 After a short time, Kitty was admitted into the Xavier School for gifted youngsters. Thus he would become the youngest member of the X-Men.3 At the Xavier Institute, Peter Rasputin (aka Colossus), trained and helped Kitty to control her power, emerging between them an innocent and romantic attraction.
