My quest for the perfect Batman figure continues. This is similar to other customs I've done in the past. The Mattel DC Superheroes Batman body is one of my favorites in terms of sculpt and articulation. I always preferred the dark gray bodysuit of the DC Superheroes Series 3 to the lighter gray one of the Series 8 repaint. I wanted a Batman more like the one from Arkham Asylum and Batman v Superman, not too armored, and with decent articulation. So, I used a Mattel DC Superheroes Series 3 Batman body. I colored the blue parts black. I removed the head and neck joint. The hardest part of the custom was removing the original Mattel belt as it's very thick and not very pliable. I spent a lot of time and energy cutting and pulling it off (yes I saw the tutorial on Figurerealm but this belt was really difficult compared to other belts I've removed). Lastly, I added the DC Collectibles Arkham Origins Batman head and the Arkham Asylum belt. I am very happy with the figure now. It also kicks forward a lot better now that I've replaced the big Mattel belt. PLEASE NOTE: After I took the photos, I noticed a few bits where I didn't color the blue black. I have now fixed it. UPDATE: I swapped the gloves with the already black ones from the Legacy Modern Batman (see last photo). No more paint rub when posing the hands. ![]() |
