I've had this World of Warcraft figure sitting around for a bit and had an idea of what I wanted to do with him, but was just to lazy. I finally sat down and worked this one out and the end result is a Steampunk Mr. Freeze!

I knew from the beginning this base was perfect for this character. Between the mechanical design of the suit and the tanks that looked ice-filled on his back, I immediately thought of Freeze. However, being steampunk styled, I wanted to do something a little different with him.

Obviously, a steampunk world tends to be a little more realistically based than the DC world, the main trait just being that more stuff is mechanical. I wanted to reflect that here with this character design. In my head, this version of Freeze is just a normal scientist who specializes in using and working with the cold, not a supervillian in the traditional sense. His suit is more realistic than super powered. For example, I see most of his work involving the extreme cold so his suit is reenforced and insulated to protect him from the cold, unlike the traditional Freeze's suit that keeps him alive by keeping him cold. His right arm isn't as reenforced, instead he wears a thermal sleeve that allows him to move that arm and hand with more dexterity that his more armored arm for when he is working with delicate materials. He doesn't have a Freeze Ray, more of a revolver that would fire specially designed rounds to freeze a target.

Likewise, instead of going the 'bald, supervillian' look the traditional Freeze has, I wanted him to look more 'normal'. He has a full head of hair, it just happens to be greying.

Overall, I wanted to keep the essence of Mr. Freeze, but turn it into a more real, but steampunk styled, look.
