This is my favorite custom I've done to date. Gort the Mad is the character I've played in Dungeons & Dragons for MANY a year. He's a Duergar (Dark Dwarf) fighter. I used Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit as a base, cut off his clothes (which luckly was easy to do as they were not actually attached to the base of the figure) shaved his head, and cut off his long hair (which I turned into a proper Dwarven beard). His weapons (the 3 axes) were from a Ghimli figure, and the sword from Thorin himself. I crafted the shield from apoxie (adding some of Legolas' arrows) as well as all his armor. The backpack is also made from apoxie, but is partially cloned from a Rey Star Wars Black series figure. Please wait... |

Gort the Mad - Before and After
Started with Thorin Okenshield from The Hobbit, and finished with a Duergar fighter. Thorin's fur coat and tunic were easy to cut right off, leaving a great base for a figure of Dwarven descent.
Gort the Mad - at play and at work
Gort lost his eye in a battle with a Black Dragon. He'll tell you all about it over (several) flagons of beer.
Gort's Port
I based the figure off this picture I drew of my D&D character Gort the Mad.
Gort's accessories
His axe came from Ghimli, but the shield and flagon are crafted from apoxie. The head of beer is made of insulation board and is removable.
