Oh boy, here was a spur of the moment labor of love.

Love them or hate them, the Yuuzhan Vong were a huge part of the Star Wars EU-and they were barely represented in the toy world, with only one figure that I know of being made in the 3.75 scale. While it was an excellent copy of the design from the short comic it was based on...it was kind of lacking in a lot of ways. So long story short, after staring at a bunch of extra 'Man of Steel' Zod bodies I had, I decided to try my hand at making a more accurate representation in a 6 inch size to fit in with the Black Series figures. As a super perk, the armored Zod body, already in a 6 inch scale, is a bit bulkier and taller than most 6 inch figures which made it PERFECT.

As mentioned, the original body was a MoS Armored Zod. First thing I did was rip his cape off. Next thing, I took the 'bone wings' from a Curse of Spawn figure, trimmed them down, glued them on his back and then sculpted over them to make it look like the legs from the living armor the Vong wear. The body also received random spike pieces from the fodder bin to look like the armor's small spikes.

Hands were also replaced with the Curse of Spawn hands. Unfortunately, they would not fit right and in the end, had to be glued on, losing wrist rotation for good aesthetic.

Next the whole body was repainted black. Once dry, the armor parts were hit with a light dusting of silver to make it look more like a living creature. Spike tips were hit with a light drybrushing of red at the tips and the hands were painted a sickly tan, then washed in black for details and the 'scarring' and 'tattoos' were highlighted with black.

The head was originally from a 6inch Morbius figure. The hair was ripped off and the head was resculpted to give it the ridged look the Vong all have before being repainted with the same sickly tan color and washed lightly with black, eyes repainted white and a tattoo added to the head. The ball neck joint is also from the original Morbius figure and was refitted on the Zod body.

Finally, the amphistaff weapon was custom made. The long staff part was from the Curse of the Spawn axe weapon with the snake head coming from a Conan Fire Dragon figure, popped off and refitted on the staff with any gaps filled in with sculpt. Finally it was completely repainted red and then washed with black to bring out the details.

Lastly, everything was sealed to help protect the paint.
