When I first decided to start making customs, I went shopping in downtown Phoenix for used action figures. At a hole in the wall shop, I found a Bridge Direct Goblin King for $10. I thought it was a great figure! I actually think it was intended to be scaled for the 6in line but was packaged with the 3.45in after they abandoned the 6in. I really didn't see myself making one, but as time past and I finished my dwarves, I wanted a challenge. I saw the figures Deaditor and D2 made and thought I would use the same base, Movie Masters Kilawag. But when I opened the figure, I was shocked to see it was only 8in. I read the wrong description and thought it was going to be 10in. This figure was too small, it was less bulky than the Bridge Direct figure even. So I decided to skin the Bridge Direct figure and encase the Kilawag in it. I also used the feet, legs, and back of a Hulk figure to beef this custom up. I used the face of the official figure, but sliced it in half and used the Kilawag head pieces to elongate skull and neck. I carved out the right eye and used a small ball, giving him that crazy-eye look. I cut a racket ball in half amd used it to bulk the stomach area up and then glued to stomach from the official version over it. The arms from the BD figure were fitted to the Kilawag and then sculpted over. I spent countless hours trying to get the shape right. The crown is made out of beads and wire, the staff I used some head piece that came with the guy from Wonder Woman. After painting, I used clear nail polish over the boils to make them pop, no pun intended! I loved making this figure! Hope you enjoy! ![]() |
