Continuing with my GoT figures, I decided to do Rhaegar Targaryen next.

I found him to be an interesting character-he's only appeared briefly in the show for a short flashback, but his character is pivotal to the story and everything that has led up to it. I know in the lore Rhaegar wears dark, full armor with a ruby dragon on the front. In this case, I wanted to make a more casual, but still armored look-more day to day looking.

Base figure is a Prince Caspian figure from the Chronicles of Narnia toyline. He has been sitting around for a long time and I thought it was time to finally use him.

This one was supposed to be a fairly easy repaint, which of course, didn't turn out to be. I started by pulling off the original hair and repainting it before gluing it back on and repainting his eyebrows. Unfortunately, the color paint I wanted to use happened be some of that crappy Walmart paint, which took forever to layer and get a nice coat. From experience, I know it rubs off easily until sealed, so after it was dry and reattached, I hit the figure with sealer to make sure it stayed on, which is were my first problem occurred.

His shoulder armor, belt and armor skirt is made of rubber. 9/10 times I don't have this problem, but the sealer reacted with the rubber funny and ended up leaving those small parts with a tacky feeling. I had to go about a few ways to remedy that one. The belts were repainted to cover those layers and the shoulder pads were hit with drybrushing and washes to both make them look worn and put a layer over the tackiness. The skirts were hit with the same and rubbed down to get it off. The tacky feeling is still there slightly, but not nearly as bad as before, which was a relief.

Finally, the rest of the figure was given some small washes and drybrushing of black, silver and brown to make make it look worn and dirty in places.
