Blues, the first robotic person created by Dr. Thomas Light with help of this then assistant Dr. Albert Wily. Blues was the resounding success that Light and Wily had hoped for. Dr. Wily saw Blues as the first step to making robotic soldiers that could be sold off for a fortune, but Dr. Light saw Blues as a son, Dr. Light believed that with this technology they could give the gift of life. As their ideals clashed the scientists had a falling out that would change the world forever. Dr. Light shut down Blues and tried to leave the past where it belongs, He went on and used the technology to build a company called Rollbotics, named after his daughter Roll Light. Rollbotics would go on to produce a line of public assistance robots which included a wood cutting robot called Cutman, two constructions robot known as Gutsman and Bombman, an artic research robot called Iceman, a waste management robot called Fireman, and a power management robot called Elecman. While Dr. Light's life went on, Dr. Wily's world came crashing down as he lost everything.

Dr. Wily sought vengeance on Light and used his skills to make his own Robotic Men. Wily planed to wage a war on against those who had wronged him. Wily killed Dr. Light and took the blueprints for his robots. Wily built an armor of robot soldiers based on Light's designs, Wily continued his war and destroyed all those who stood in his way. Wily was consumed by a lust to punish the world for the perceived injustices committed against him.

Dr. Wily killed or enslaved any he came across in his conquest. Now only small pockets of resistance stand. In Russia a former friend of Dr. Light, Dr. Mikhail Cossack, hides out and builds his own fighters to combat Wily. One of these fighters, the remodeled museum tour guild robot Pharaohman, was sent to ensure the safety of Dr. Light's daughter Roll. In his journey to find Roll, Pharaohman came across the deactivated Blues. Pharaohman attempted to repair the robot but was attacked by Wily's robotic army. Pharaohman fought off the robots but when he returned to finish Blues, he found Blues had vanished.

Give life once more, Blues stumbled into the world a damaged and incomplete man. Blues walked this unfamiliar world, making his way through a factory he knew not of. As he wandered the halls of the Rollbotics head quarters he found newspapers telling of Dr. Light's murder, telling of Wily's conquest, telling of fall of man. Blues sought to avenge the man he saw as a father. Blues upgraded himself with the weapons upgrades Wily once thought could build his empire and now uses them to crumble it. He forged himself a new name, one what he would ensure Wily would come to fear, Breakman.
