Hey everyone, just finished my Nori custom. Nori had that crazy starfish haircut and is played brilliantly by Jed Brophy who has been in most of Peter Jacksons films but most importantly in the Lord of the Rings as Shaaku, Snaga, a ringwraith at weather top a rider of Rohan and an elf as well as performing many stunts that made the film what it is and finally as Nori in the Hobbit Trilogy. Once again I stand by Eowyn as a base Body as it works so well and is easy to make the right height and length in arms and legs and I used a Gandalf the white head as the nose, eyes and face look perfect in ratio and then sculpted pretty much Everything! The belt was complicated enough but the vambraces on the wrists took a while to make as it's overly complicated to sculpt. The skirt part of the tunic comes from various Aragorns and the blue parts were from a helms deep Haldir (which is so common to find and makes a fantastic thin material to make belts and other parts from). I used parts from Rohan armour Legolas and Exio from Brotherhood for the belt and mini buckles then sculpted the main one. The sheaths for the larger back daggers (which I love their gnarly design) is just a ninja turtles one (I used the same piece for Kili's sheath in my early days!). The mini daggers or knives on his boots are made from Frodo's Barrow Blade (technically just a short sword from Strider but from the book it is a Barrow Blade) and I made the sheathes and blade parts and shortened the handles. They are removable but I wish he didn't have them. I made sure the articulation wasn't inhibited by them making them quite short and whilst he can hold them I bet he never uses them xD. I made sure to paint his eyes green as that is Jed Brophys eye colour and I made him in scale again using that online chart and his actual height and pictures in scale with the other dwarves. The colour palette I'd describe the tunic colour is cheap chocolate ice cream brown which I took a while to get to the right colour and the issue with the blue grey parts is not overcompensating either colour. I used bits of Gimli's tunic to achieve patterns in the right place and the torso I made fatter but not too fat and then went over the top sculpting the design of his cloth and then did the opening of the jacket with miliput but imprinted the Gimli pattern. The collar, metal buttons, undershirt, ties etc etc I sculpted. To get the head right took a while. I used ears from a wrestling figure and took 4 parts of Gimli's beard from two figures to get the pony tail and tri beard ten sculpted the correct shape and hair braids and finally sculpted layer by later the hair on the top. I hit a snag sculpting the sides wrong and had to whittle parts down then resculpt so the sideburns go past the ear and stick out etc. As it's been said before by Staley and Grinmankey Hairdressers ain't go nothing on Dori and Nori xD and then Ori just had his bowl hair cut (tight budget). The staff weapon is a Gimli axe and I sculpted the top part and stuck it on the top so the length of what was the axe is longer than it used to be then used fodder for the leather handle and the bottom blunt part is just a thick nerf arrow from Mirkwood Legolas whittled and painted. The bigger knives are made from two Eowyns spears then I used plastic to make the blade and stick over. I'm glad this ones over as after Nori the complicated stuff I believe is done "I do believe the worst is behind us". I say that as Ori and oin are mainly woolly gloves and not much to be sculpted other than hair. I'm proud of this Nori he's come out well and as usual I have given him all his weapons. And you guys must love that Barrel as I use it so much for weapons. Imma call him Jerry! I've painted the fingerless gloves now (forgot as it was like 1am I finished and had to work the next day haha (nobody's perfect) If I get round to it I will post pictures of the making of. ![]() |
