Hey everyone! Been working on this baby for a while! Today, I present to you my Marvel Legends MCU Concept for Scorpion. Man, there is a hell of a story behind this fella. I started this piece back in 2012 (I was 14 at the time). I originally was going to make this a concept for The Amazing Spider-Man series, having the suit manufactured by Oscorp. I was gonna deck out this old War Machine with Oscorp decals and was gonna just sculpt a few minor details to the Bane head and repaint it a bit to look more "scorpion-ish." I popped on the Doc Ock tentacle to his butt and remove the claw and replaced it with a piece of CD case plastic that I drew and cut and painted silver. Then I put it aside for a bit to work on other projects. Fast forward to 2014, and TASM2 came out and I saw how much Oscorp was involved in all the bad going on, which reignited my excitement to continue this figure for a short while. A year later and they announced that Spidey would once again be rebooted and I kinda just threw it in a bin and lost all interest in completing the figure. Fast forward once again to the release of Spider-Man Homecoming where they confirm Scorpion for a future film and I got home and dug EVERYWHERE for this damn thing and I could not wait to put some pedal to the metal on this. My whole vision for this figure changed. In the film, Adrian Toomes and his boys were using old Chitauri technology to build weapons to sell to criminals in New York. In the film's climax, we see Adrian Toomes attempting to steal Stark technology from an Avengers plane to further his business. We also discovered that Toomes was going to build some sort of weapon for Mac Gargan, who in the comics is known as the Scorpion. With all that in mind, I decided that the story behind my concept would change from my original idea. Given that the Vulture was trying to steal Stark technology, my thought was that one of the crates full of Stark technology was possibly recovered by one of Adrian's men and redesigned and repurposed to finish the Gargan deal. The Stark Tech enclosed within said crate was in fact the Mark 1 War Machine suit. The Tinkerer placed a custom tail with a very sharp and dangerous blade onto the suit (Ya know, to kind of look like a scorpion's stinger) and, so as not to look like an Iron Man suit, designed an entirely new helmet for the Scorpion. So, I decided that this figure was gonna get a colorful makeover. I painted all the silver portions a nice, bright green, as well as dry brushing green onto the segments on his tail (since the MCU is more colorful anyways). Instead of just tweaking the original Bane mask around, I decided to use the Bane head as a base for this newly designed helmet. Truthfully, I decided to keep it simple so as not to distract from the tail ( because I am very proud of that tail). I hope you all enjoy this piece, and I'm very open to criticism and suggestion. Thank you for looking. ![]() |
