As with any Toybiz figure the parts are all there it's just a case of taking two or more figures of the same character and combining them to make your own personal best of that character. So I took a regular Gandalf the White and a Gandalf with Shadowfax figure and combined them also using the Twoo Towers basic Gandalf the White's plastic cloak for reference. I prefer Gandalf to have a cloak as he does in certain parts of the films, but all we got was a plastic-rubber cloak and a cloth robe that should have velcro like the other cloaks. So I cut off the front portion of the poncho type robe, then unstitched the decoorative patterned sides then re-sowed them after sewing the sides down then trimming the remander neatly and then sewed on the broach and repainted it. The figure itself consists of the Shadowfax Gandalf's head and torso, the legs from a regular Gandalf and pinched a grey scabbarded Glamdring which I glued the bottom part to the sheath from an Aragorn's scabbard (as I did with my Gandalf the grey's Glamdring sheath) then sculpted the missive V shapes and also swapped the torso's tunic but kept the cloth robes a whiter staff, repainted the figure's hair and voila, simle but effective change (notibly the new cloak) to make my perfect rendtion.

Great Gandalf mods! Like you said, simple but effective. I agree totally that Toybiz had all the parts for nearly perfect versions of the characters. They just spread them out over the different figures of each character they made.

Thanks! . It's relatively simple custom, although sewing takes ages and drives me insane (got 2 more sewing figures to do haha). I always try to take the best parts of each figure of the same character and combine them. I still have another robe (old stype poncho) that I can swap out as he wears either robe or cloak, but ultimately I prefer the cloak.

The main photo reminds me of the old toybiz advertising shots on the back of boxes where they just had the figure on a treelike grassland background

Looks way better than the standard out of the box Gandalf the White! Love the recreated scenes! Legolas: "Forgive me. I mistook you for Saruman." Gandalf: "I am Saruman. Or Rather, Saruman as he should have been."

I don't mind certain garments being rubbery plastic but the old cloak I prefer the design but hate the weight and most my customs or figures featured in other custom shoots but not posted (Like two towers Legolas) I've swapped plastic for cloth (my many Bat-Capes are a good example of my obsession with swapping plastic with material). The articulation is best on the Shadowfax Gandalfs torso as it's on a hinge and whilst it has the button gimic he's not limited to keeping his arm jsut forward and backward like the other, but obviously I got rid of the rubbery legs haha. Never owned a Gandalf Stormcrow figure so not sure about that one's articulation and why is it youtube reviews just keep it in box xD we need to 'see' the figure, hence why I'm slowly reviewing my collection on Youtube lol

I have never kept a figure in the box, though I have heard to do that all my life. Nothing like putting that sucker in an action pose for the first time...hence the name Action Figure!

I try to buy two to have one just in case it becomes a huge collectors item ( limited release and such )

Thought about doing that once long time ago myself but I never could get myself to buy another duplicate figure (except on occasions where I desperately needed a part for a custom) I would always end up using the money to buy a whole new figure!

I usually get them when I buy in bulk. When I bought my treebeard in a lot I got him and ten other figures for like £35 total (insanely cheap, but had to fix treebeard arm) then kept a few and sold others. I don't like to have duplicates unless they are usable for customs or army building, but I do have a version of each character in each Figure release so I can review them and post them online or combine aspects from each one to combine int one "ultimate" version, like my Aragorn has a helms deep head, vambrsces from Boromir, decent ranger sword with utility knife from different Aragorn scabbard, eleven knife on back, trench coat from the worst Aragon but it's less rubbery, quiver from two towers generic Aragorn carved out to fit arrows and bow from Strider Figure as well as his duffle bad and other travelling gear, eleven cloak, ranger poncho and have a Anduril ready for him to swap over to.
