Diana Matthews lost her entire family and colony to a Xenomorph infestation when she was eight years old. The Death Stalker Tribe arrived on the colony to clear out the infestation and discovered the child. To their amazement, she had survived the infestation and even managed to kill a Xenomorph utilizing a fallen Yautja’s plasma pistol. The tribe took the girl in, raising and training her to become a huntress, as well as giving her the name, Zaf’el. When she turned 18, she began hunting alongside the tribe. She eventually learned that the Weyland-Yutani Corporation had been responsible for the Xenomorph outbreak all those years ago. She set out for revenge, but was captured and used in a horrible experiment meant to continue the work of the late Hunter Borgia, splicing her with Yautja DNA. Zaf’el eventually managed to escape her captors, but realized she had become an abomination and believed she would be executed by the tribe, a fate she originally welcomed. However, despite most Yautja seeing hybrids as abominations, the Death Stalker Tribe had grown attached to Zaf’el, and as such, couldn’t bring themselves to execute her for an affliction that was not her fault. She remains a member of the tribe, hunting alongside her adoptive Yautjan family, and constantly proving herself to be just as worthy a hunter as a full-blooded Yautja.
