One thing I like about the Star Wars X-wing game (No, I don't play the game) from Fantasy Flight are the great looking ships that they offer. So how could I resist not repainting when I bought a couple of Imperial ships loose from a seller.

For this project, I wanted the Raider to look like it belong exclusively to the Sith so I base coated the ship with chaos black spray to give it an overall dark and menacing appearance.

To give the impression that the Raider is flowing with the dark energies of the Sith. I first started with a base coat of dark red among the Raider's hull lines and slowly added lighter layers of red before finally adding a orange highlight to simulate a glowing effect.

I also wanted the Raider to have a striking appearance so I painted gem like appearances across raised sections of the ship.

I am not a big fan of clear plastic bases. So I decided to base coat the base with chaos black as well and paint lighting arcs to enforce the fact that the Raider is so infused with Sith energy that it can create it's own lighting storm.

A coat of clear gloss and then flat varnish was applied to both vehicle and base to protect the paint from chipping and to give it a semi satin finishing.

Overall, it took me almost a month plus to finish painting partly due to other ongoing projects but I am happy with the results. Really looking forward to starting on the next Imperial ship.
