In the DC Universe of the future, Superman had retired from the life of fighting crime after the death of Lois Lane. However during his long absence, a new generation of super powered heroes would rise. They were more savage, bloodthirsty, and preferred to engage in violent battles rather than protecting the innocent.

Superman decided to return after many years in order to stop these violent heroes who were led by a ruthless vigilante known as Magog. He also had to fight against Lex Luthor's brainwashed henchman Billy Batson, also known as the powerful Captain Marvel.

Ultimately, Superman reformed the Justice League, comprised of both new and old members. He took on a new role as a world leader to teach the next generation the meaning of truth and justice.
