This is an 11” Miss Piggy custom a girl asked me to make using the head from her vintage Fisher Price Miss Piggy bean bag toy.
I started by removing the head from the bean bag toy & cutting of all its old hair. Next I rerooted her a new head of hair using some blonde nylon doll hair which I styled using the boiling water method.
Once the head was ready I attached it to a curvy Barbie doll body. The Barbie legs were a little too long & thin for Piggy so I got an old Jem doll & removed the bottom section of her legs which I then attached to the top section of the Barbie legs (just below the knee).
Once the actual body was complete it was time to move onto making her outfit.
I was asked to make Piggy the pink & white ruffle dress which was worn by Jem in the classic ‘Jem & the Holograms’ cartoon. However, Piggy’s dress was to be the same style of dress but instead of pink & white I was asked to make it in deep shades of purple with glittery gold tights & Piggys lilac gloves.
Her entire outfit was hand stitched. The dress was made from deep purple lycra fabric & purple tulle ribbon. Her gloves were made from lilac lycra fabric & her tights were made from a glittery gold stretch fabric.
Her shoes were taken from an old Jem doll & I repainted them metallic purple to match the rest of her outfit.
To finish her off I made her a little pearl necklace.
