So you may have seen this in backgrounds of my other customs but now he is done. So here he is Fili the Dwarf with all removable accessories. He has 2 swords, 2 throwing knives and 4 throwing axes. I wanted a decent likeness, youthful looking like his brother as well as I wanted 'ALL' of his accesories to be removable and workable as this hasn't been done with th 3.75 inch one. Again as with Kili I used a base body of Eowyn and made sure like Kili he was the same height I.e shorter than Thorin. I used a Faramir head where I made the top of the head shorter then stuck Eomer's hair on top and used bit's of regular and corronation Gimli's Beard with sculpting in places including the eyebrows to give him a particular raised eyebrow look. His torso was practically perfect already with just adding the fur and I wanted an open coat but the collar had to be sculpted and I looked at some pictured of him being searched in Mirkwood to get that right, so you can hide additional weapons in his coat. The Belt was sculpted from scratch but used 2 Legolas tightened straps at the front with buckles sculpted over. His Boots are Aragorn's upper boot upside down and joined with a leg joint with Thorin's foot. Fili's wrists are of course Thorin's hollowed out and I used a couple of Altair's dagger pouches and stuck them in there. Then I hand sculpted the knives onto a flat piece of plastic cut to the right shape. Then the Swords were also sculpted from scrtatch sanded and etched over and over to get them right. The handles are from the rubbish Glamdring but the blade was sculpted over a thin piece of plastic slotted in and the pummel and guard were handsculpted also with the triangle decorative parts. No detail was missed. The Axes were a challenge and again were sculpted on the rough shape cut out from a sheet of plastic then to get them to be removable and held in place I tried various methods but eventually made what you see with straps from Legolas which are rubbery so they slot in and stay in place. The Sheath for the Swords as you can see is 3 Thorin's sheaths for his sword Deathless and stuck together either side by 2 pieces of flat plastic sheets then the strap is made from a couple of Thorin's Orcrist straps cut off and reshaped. The patches or kneeguards or w.e it is on his clothing are jsut two Thorin Pauldron's. The chainmail arms Eowyn had were sculpted over but I left a gap for a seam look. This whole thing took a fair while to get done and I think it'c come out very well SO tell me what you think! I'm super please with it as it looks authentic and has all the accessories, and as usualy I have done quite a few pics! Please wait... |
