Hi, guys ! The orc offensive keeps rolling... !
Here's a Gundabad grunt/foot soldier from the movie "The Hobbit-Battle of the five armies."

I've spent quite some time on research to get details about armor etc right.
The different variation of armor/weapons is the thing I like the most, about those orc-soldiers, from that movie.
There are at least 5-6 different versions of body-; back-; shoulder-armor and even more helmet-designs; different swords and halberts, which are all combined crisscross to provide thousands and thousands of CGI-orcs with individuality. Even the color of the skin varys in more or less pale tones.

One battalion carries skulls, or shrink-heads, impaled on lances, on the back and that's one detail, I HAD to do, cause I love that idea. ...such a dreadful way, to awe the enemies...

There was no nameable struggle while working on this figure, except giving it a skin-tone, that resembles one of the few (not always clearly identifiable ), because the heavily furrowed surface of the base figure responded a bit different on shades and dry-brushing, than I'd expected. Furthermore do I work on another gundabad orc (Ravenhill captain), which is more pale and I want them to look differently. So I've painted it four times, till I was pleased.

The recipe:
Base figure = lord of the rings Berserker ToyBiz (resculpted chin)
Helmet = modified Berserker-helmet with plastic and sculpy.
Body-; shin- and hip-armor = plastic
Back-armor : rubber and sculpy
Shoulder-; elbow; hand-armor; boots, scarf = sculpy
Shield : plastic and sculpy

Shirt/skirt and straps = Fake leather in two brown tones

Sword and blade of halbert = polypropylene
Helve of halbert and "Trophy-sticks" = wood
Scull = casted resin
Shrinkhead : sculpted over resin scull; hair=hemp

I hope you few Tolkien-enthusiasts like it. Tell me what you think !

Can't wait to see YOUR new figures !

Cheers from Bavaria !
