Never thought I'd make Cave Carson, but here we are. I haven't had much time for customs the last few months so I'd been slowly working on things I thought would be relatively easy. A few months ago I saw Wild Dog in the new Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye series, and thought Cave would be a simple custom. Man, it's hard to believe I made my Wild Dog custom over five years ago now.

After the success of the Challengers of the Unknown, and still predating the Fantastic Four, DC created two more sci-fi based characters. One was the much more successful (especially in recent years) Rip Hunter, and good ol' Cave Carson. Cave Carson and his team explored the worlds underneath the world. Later on he'd join with Rip Hunter amongst the Forgotten Heroes.

I had a Nintendo game as a kid called Spelunker, and because of that I always kind of remembered the name Cave Carson. Then he appeared in some early JSA issues, and now in his own series, so I thought why not.

He was made basically from a DCUC Captain Cold with some sculpting, an unmasked Starman head with a bushier beard, and a quick cast I made of a Star Wars Elite Die Cast Rey backpack. I didn't think I'd ever need a mold again so I just pressed it into some clay and then poured some resin in. Quick, but good enough for what I needed. Added some straps from an ML Onslaught wave Cap and you've got an instant spelunking pack. Hope you, ahem, dig...him.
