Yea most people prefer to use acrylics when painting customs. I do use them myself from time to time but always find myself drawn back to using good old enamels.

This is my girl. Love her and this custom. Not too sure about using enamel paints tho. If you used a better buck this would've been a complete home run but still it's really nice. Good work.

To be honest I always use enamel paints. I find they give a much more professional & smoother finish than acrylics. But thats just my own personal preference.
They do take a little longer to dry though but I think its worth the wait.
The only time I would use acrylics is if I am painting onto a more rubbery textured surface as enamels tend to go more tacky on those surfaces.
