As I'm sure you've guessed, I'm a fan of the ALIEN franchise. My personal favorite film is the first. Unlike the films that followed, the late H.R. Giger had a direct role in the creation of several of the sets, including the famous Chair Jockey scene, which he tediously sculpted and airbrushed by hand. His influence was seen most in film, however, by the deadly organism known as "Big Chap" which was based off of his Necronom IV artwork.
While NECA's figure of this alien is near perfect, the original suit did not have a pearlescent white dome. It had darker, more subdued colors. I tried to emulate that look with my custom, updated version of NECA's "Big Chap".
First I touched up the entire figure, adding darker green and black shading, and a coat of clear gloss to give it a slimy appearance. For the dome, I removed the original, added a coat of epoxy, then added a type of glue which reacts with the epoxy to give it texture. Detailed it with black shading, then finished the dome with another coat of epoxy, which hardens to a glass-smooth surface.
