Crimson Lord Batman (DC Infinite Heroes) Custom Action Figure
Infinite Crisis was a big hit for a very short period. I think I tried the game a couple times, but never could get into it. The digital comic was enjoyable though, and the various alternate designs and concepts were pretty fantastic. Atomic Green Lantern? One day I shall figure out that arm. I also like Starro's designs, but there's not really a solid base to work with for him. But one of my absolute favorite designs was an alternate for Nightmare Batman. The Crimson Lord. Seriously, look at that reference picture. It's so awesome. I've been dying to make it forever, but have certainly been intimidated. With Injustice 2 due out in a couple of days, I finally put my concerns aside, as well as my sleep schedule, and got to work on him. Cut down the hands a little bit and glued the claws from the GI Joe ROC Doctor onto the stubs. This allowed them mobility after I smoothed the palms over with sculpt. Sculpted up the arms, legs, and knees, then redid the torso in a couple of layers. The arm blades came from an Infinite Heroes Batman with sculpt added for the gauntlets, and then for the elbow bands. Belt was from Cap with the skirt bit sculpted up. Feet also came from Cap. Head was Punisher with the hair and crown both fully sculpted. The bat emblem actually wasn't as tough as I expected. The jacket was from a Gotham Knights Deadshot. Cut away the front of it so it would fit better. Sculpted up the collar and the fur/feather portions on the collar and shoulders. Put the jacket on, then sculpted up the front so it would look smoother, and blended the jacket with the collar. Finally, the wings. They were demon resin casts. Grabbed them off EBay. Dremeled through the jacket and into the back and glued them in place. Full, excessively tedious repaint, and done! Whew! Please wait... |
