7 Grand Dad was a bootleg game I played back in the 90s. It basically was a hack of the NES game "The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy" but with Mario's head super imposed on Fred Flintstone's body, as well as a new title screen. I thought nothing special about it because there has been literally hundreds of games like this. A few months ago, however, I found out that the game became a meme when this guy's brain broke upon seeing the title screen. From there, for some reason this stuck with me. The figure is based on the actual in-game sprite of Mario/Fred instead of the more well-known title screen (I might do that one later). His head is obviously Mario, his body is Fred, and his club came from Captain Caveman. The head's a bit undersized, but I feel like coupled with the derpy expression, he really sells the "bootleg" aspect of the character. Also, if you look at some of the spritesheets, Mario's head moves around and detaches at points, so I feel like that aspect is fairly accurate. Funny side-note... I didn't realize that the Flintstones characters only had three toes until I started making this figure. ![]() |
