Al Mualim really should have a figure. Whilst he isn't my favourite Assasin's Creed villain he is an interesting one and now part of my expanding custom collection for AC. I used a base of a Neca Altair which is appropriate as their robes are obviously similar being from the same specific order and time period, then used a couple of King Aragorn Cloaks for the robes and removed the weaponary and straps and sculpted over the gaps. Then the head is taken from a Balrog Battle Gandalf the Grey which I had removed the hair from previously to give to a Thorin custom and then I shortened the beard by a third and repainted it as well as his eyes and eyebrows. Then I scuplpted on the metal coat pins and the black buttons are partly sculpted partly painted. THe sword you see is actually the final sword you get in the game which is basically Altair's sword with the eagle motif but with a bigger more ornate guard and curved blade. To make this I used an Ocrist handle and worked the end piece to be the right direction of the eagle head and then took a plastic twist tye from action figure packaging and reworked and sculpted over to geth apporpriate shaped and hardened with super glue. The blade comes from in my view the WORST Aragorn blade made. It's the wrong size thickness and its bendy and it comes from that Helms Deep Aragorn that strangley has his utility knife but no eleven dagger. Anyways I literally split it down the middle and sanded the insides and glued them back together. This was to make it thinner but also strenthen the core and luckily mien was already bent out of shape so needed little work. I als sculpted n the black dots it has and then painted the thing. You can use this weapon in Assassin's creed sequels as it is the Old Syrian Sword. So felt liek it was appropriate to I've to Altair and do some Al Mualim handing over the blade shots. So yeah relatively simple custom, the hardest part was the arm's which believe it or not are Wolverine Trousers. It was just a happy weird coincidence that the leather trousers from a Toybiz short Wolverin figure were the right colour shape and had the line up the sleeve so I ended up using them and after lots of reworkign cutting sculpting etc I had my sleeves. The hands are from that King Aragorn which I had to cut a thicked hole in the bottom of the Wolverine legs to fit the lower wrists in in order to acheive the look that Al Mualim has ornate red sleeves and can move his hands 360 etc. Work in progress Apple of Eden is also being featured here. I made some mock up backgrounds for this out of spare Marvel Legends sets and LOTR Toybiz etc pieces just for fun and the stone floor and walls you keep seeing don't worry as soon as I get more paint you will finally see what that project is and why it's been used for backgrounds etc. ![]() |
