Hey Gang - got a new customer who requested a movie Deadpool be made from Ant-Man figure. Great base, lots have used it before me. Basically, it's a full resculpt. For figures like this, if there's a Hot Toys 1/6 scale equivalent, I gather lots of the HT reference pics so I can get as many of those details as possible.

My buyer supplied the head, belt, and most of the fodder for guns, swords, etc. I constructed the sheath box and it attaches magnetically to the back of the figure. That construct was tough to figure out.

In terms of sculpt, I went a section at a time, using my trusty needle to cut it the lines and stitches and also to add some damage marks. I used a swatch of mesh to add texture to the sculpt and that added so much to the realism. The extra head was the head that came with the little truck that came with ML Speed demon. I just sculpted the burned portions and added the ears. Then basecoated it in maroon and the drybrushed skin tone.

On paint, I basecoated with a medium but vibrant red and then drybrushed the dirt and grit on top. That matched the Hot Toys version. I was able to retain the ab crunch by hollowing out the existing abs with my dremel. That way I could still sculpt what I needed to and not lose that articulation.

All in all, it was a tough custom to pull off, but I thrive on challenges like this. 2017 I'm really focused on seriously upping my custom game and I feel like I've taken some big steps forward. It takes patience and a steady hand, but it the end it's worth all the effort!
