From the alien world of Mer..The Maelstrom is the giant vessel commanded by the Pirate King Bloth. It's made almost entirely of the bones of leviathans and strikes terror into any and all who see it.

I've always been a huge fan of the Hanna-Barbera produced animated series The Pirates Of Dark Water. The figures by HASBRO are pretty good, but the figure of Bloth is one of my all time favorites. I though it would be cool to make a display for him. Since HASBRO only made a ship for the heroes I thought I'd make one for the villains. Now, to build a Maelstrom in-scale with the action figures would be great, but not very practicle. So I deceided to make a slice of the Maelstrom. I build a basic frame of MDF and fully sculpted over it. I had a lot of fun with the design, the bone structures on the lower deck were a blast to do. The 3 giant teeth are loose pieces that can be displayed in any configuration. I also made a telescope for Bloth that can be placed on the balustrade. Its a beast of a piece, weighing more than 2 KG :)
