For your consideration in this Japanimania contest is Speed Racer or Go Mifune as the character is known in Japan.

A Japanese racing drama first serialized and created in 1966 by Go Tatsuo Yoshida.

Backstory: (infomation taken from Wikipedia) Mach GoGoGo was first created and designed by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida (1932–1977) as a manga series in the 1960s and made the jump to TV as an anime series in 1967. The actual manga was inspired by Yoshida’s earlier, and more popular automobile racing comics, Pilot Ace.[2] Pilot Ace’s main storyline would form the structure for Mach GoGoGo, which followed the adventures of an ambitious young man who became a professional racer.

The characters’ designs in Pilot Ace would set the main ground for the character design in Mach GoGoGo. Yoshida got his idea for the story after seeing two films that were very popular in Japan at the time, Viva Las Vegas and Goldfinger. By combining the look of Elvis Presley's race-car driving image, complete with neckerchief and black pompadour, and James Bond's gadget-filled Aston Martin, Yoshida had the inspiration for his creation. Soon enough, Mach GoGoGo hit shelves in the early 1960s. The central character in the anime and manga was a young race car driver named Gō Mifune (Mifune Gō).

As an young boy I grew up and remember watching Speed Racer on Television and many other anime classics such as Astro Boy and Gigantor. Even then I could tell those "cartoons" were cut from a different cloth than the usual animation I was used to. And to this day Speed Racer is still a cultural icon worldwide and is remembered by fans old and new.

This figure was started years ago and thanks to this contest pushed me to complete it. This figure was made from a Marvel Legends Young Avengers Patriot figure, DLX buffy lower legs, Batman Movie Masters bank goon hands, Resaurus Speed Racer head and some fodder parts.

Hello fellow customizers and figure enthusiast. Thank you for this highest honor and votes on this custom. These anime character types of customs I enjoy making the most due to the fact that I can have Speed Racer now race against Batman and other 6" figures.
As for some of the questions on the comments-
-The 1:12 Mach 5 in the pictures is from the 1998 Resaurus Speed Racer figure series. 6" figures don't really fit in it, but it helps that this custom was on a thin teen body that is slightly shorter than most regular figures.
-While I appreciate the offers I do not sell or remake my customs as I make them for fun and I do not have the upmost confidence in my customizing craftsmanship to remake another same custom. There are many excellent customizers who do take requests who can take inspiration from this work and most likely build a more superior version.

Thanks again everyone and if you enjoy anime customs, check out some of my older submissions.
