So I ended up getting most of the pieces for the King Thor figure after Christmas when Target had legends on clearence for $6. I was less than enthuaiastic about him as a Thor figure, but thought he had a pretty cool Medevil look overall. While trying to decide whether to sell him or keep him I remembered back to my teens when a group of friends and I used to play a RPG based off the Palladium Fantasy source books. Then I remembered I had those Absorbing Man arms in my fodder bin. Got the last piece I needed from kitbashvoodooskull in the mail today. Thanks bro! This is not a character that we ever played as, but is just based off of what I remember about the game and what I chose to make up for back story. There are 13 main races of beings that make up the Realm: humans, elves, dwarves, changelings, orcs, goblins, hobgoblins, trolls, ogres, wolfen, kobolds, gnomes, and troglodytes. Warlocks are sorcerers of elemental magic granted to them by elemental beings. Elemental beings are of the 4 elements: air, water, earth, and fire. Sir Valon Winhaven was a Captain in the Western Empire army, and a count in the royal court. A military man from a long line of military men. His main duty was the safety and security of the Imperial Highway that led from the Empire to the other countries in the Realm. He was on assignment to escort the Emperors eldest son, a boy of 10 years, to the families estate in the southern part of the country. While stopping for their midday meal they were approached by caravan of traders. The prince was excited to see the traders and see what they had to sell as he had spent the majority of his young life confined to the palace grounds. An older kobold man was selling spices, which excited the prince because his uncle and him always tried to see who could eat the spicier food. The kobold pulled forth a pouch of spice that he said came from a pepper called a ghoul pepper. The prince had never heard of it and was excited to try it. Valon however had had had itt before and new that it had a grayish green color, so he became alert when the spice merchant pulled forth a pouch and poured some golden orange powder directly onto his bare skin. Anything that spicy you would never put directly on your skin. So when Valon noticed the kobold had just taken a large breath he shoved the prince behind him. The powder the kobold blew was actually a poison called Torak. It is harmless to touch, but if inhaled it liquefies the lungs. Valon got some of the powder in his eye causing him to lose his eyeight in that eye. As one of the other soldiers grabbed the prince to get him to safety, Valon saw a hobgoblin jump up from the wagon ready to throw a knife at the princes back. Valon ran and hurled a mighty shoulder against the wagon. The shaking just enough to throw off the hobgoblins aim. The hobgoblin cursed and ran. Valon ordered his men to protect the prince and take the rest of the traders into custody while he and 2 others pursued the hobgoblin. The hobgoblin ducked into a cave, which Valon and his men chased him into. Little did the know the cave was rigged to collapse. Valons 2 soldiers were killed in the collapse and Valon trapped. After a few hours and Valon did not return, the Sargent sent some men to see if the could track them down. They came upon the collapsed cave, and reported it to the sergeant. The Sergeant knowing that even if they survived there would be little air in there for breathing and by the time they could get some engineers to safely dig out the cave they would all be dead. They found that the kobold and hobgoblin were part of a band of assassin's hired to kill the prince and being chaos to the Empire. The kobold was willing to spill his guts because his fail safe cyanide tooth would not crack, and was forcibly removed before he could crack it. He gave all the details of the plot in exchange for a quick trial and execution without torture when they reached the capital. The kobold never made it to the capital. The next morning on the ride north an arrow from a long bow found its mark. The hobgoblin Grundulak hit his target this time. Valon after a few hours realized no help was coming was able to get himself some light by mixing 2 chemicals that he kept in his pouches that when mixed give off light without smoke or using oxygen. He tried to dig out but to no avail. Then he noticed a small reflection in the side of the wall. He went to investigate and found it was a chest. It was about 4 feet long by 2 feet wide and 1 foot tall. It was ornately carved in green and gold metals and was covered in rune symbols. Unable to decipher the runes he decided he had nothing to lose by opening it. He was a dead man anyway. He was surprised that there was no actual lock. He just grabbed the lid and it popped open. To his surprise there were 2 things in there and the were both "alive." The first was what at first opening the chest was a pile of dirt, but as soon as the chest was fully opened the dirt took on the shape of a smallish man a little bigger than a gnome. It greeted Valon and thanked him for freeing him. Its name was Crnnch and it was an Earth Elemental. It revealed that it had been trapped in the box by a dwarven necromancer over 300 years ago after the necromancer killed its warlock. Valon asked how he was trapped as the box had no lock Crnnch revealed that the enchantment could only be broken by a being who had no hope left in them, and since most beings have some hope in them at all times it was a formidable lock. Seeing that Valon was trapped. Crnnch offered to help Valon free himself under the condition that Valon become his new warlock. Valon knowing it was that or die in a collapsed cave did not hesitate to accept the offer as long as they could hunt down the assassin that tried to kill the prince and trapped him there. Crnnch seemed to think for a moment, then agreed as long as Valon understood his military career was over and that Crnnch was his new master. Valon agreed and Crnnch told him his new earth warlock name would be Terron. The second "being" in the box was an axe. Crnnch revealed that the axe was a rare Rune Weapon. Rune Weapons are dwarven made enchanted weapons. They are indestructible, sentient, can communicate with their wielders, have distinct personalities, magical powers, and can harm anybody that tries to wield them without their approval. Even if separated from their wielder by a distance the psychic connection remains unless the weapon severs the connection. Some can only communicate via this connection to their wielder while others can communicate out loud. After Valon accepted the offer of Crnnch to become a warlock, Crnnch seemed to be in silent communication for a moment. Crnnch instructed Valon to pick up the axe. All of a sudden Terron heard a voice in his head. The voice was coming from the axe. It revealed its name to be Verdant. Its voice was that of a kindly old man. It was an earth elemental weapon. Its powers included a Chameleon spell to camouflage with its wielders environment, a walk through stone spell, commune with animals, and rust metal. Verdant used his walk through stone power to allow Terron to free himself from the cave. As time went on Terrons powers grew and he was able to transform his body parts into earth weapons. His favorite choices were to change his arms to rock to pummel his opponents or into wood where he could launch vines out to capture or impale his enemies. Crnnch jokes about Terrons tactics saying "you can take the warlock out of the military, but you can't take the military out of the warlock." He was made using all King Thor except for the lower arms. They were from the Absorbing Man BAF. Had to shorten the pegs on Thor shoulders to attach AM arms. Painted the Jarnborn axe with a couple coats of clear green. May end up changing his hair color, and possibly his armor color. If you made it to the end of this long ass description and have any thoughts on color changes feedback would be greatly appreciated. ![]() |
