My crusade to make Attitude Era WWF customs that Mattel hasn't made has brought me to make the Dudley Boyz from around 2000-2001. Luckily the new Dudley Boyz elite figures have given me good bases to work on, but they needed some modification as well as paint work. I cracked open the torso for Bubba, and swapped on some t-shirt arms from an elite Bradshaw. Then swapped back the original forearms of Bubba and repainted the wrist tape all black. I sculpted the short hair all over Bubba, and sanded off the full beard for a goatee. I then painted the hair and goatee dark brown. The hard part for Bubba was the logo on the back. I pride myself on being able to paint pretty much anything instead of using decals, but this proved too much. The writing didn't come out as well as I had hoped. I did the form of the font in black, which looked quite good, but upon trying to fill in with white whilst maintaining the black outline meant I had pretty much ruined how nice and neat I had the writing. It was such fine scale, that even my usual steady hand technique wasn't enough, and also it's hard to get the paint to behave how I wanted despite the fine brush used. Overall, it worked out fine, not too bad. For D-Von, I had to resculpt the torso a little, to give him a full shirt rather than a wife beater. Then I sculpted his hair, with a line and then fading back, using thin paint to make it look accurate. I removed all of his tattoos apart from one on his left arm. Then I repainted the torso and painted on the logos. Took about 4 days to finish it but much more pleased than with Bubba's. Left the camo as is, since it was close enough to the look back then, and already spent too long making these. I didn't have the strength :( So there you have it - DEM DAMN DUDLEYS! ![]() |
