Although not a masterpiece or necessarily what I was hoping for the latest x-men film was still fun and definitely one of the better entries out of Fox's offerings. One really good thing came out of it though, it gave inspiration for wing articulation on one of my favourite characters Archangel. As ever articulation is my main obsession and I'm usually frustrated by the lack of it on winged figures. The design work for Archangel in the latest film really struck a chord with me so here's my take on that system. The main body is basically a repaint of the DC Collectibles Justice League Animated Cyborg with a slight shin exstension and new feet from a toybiz X-Men Magneto figure to add more articulation there. The head is a remoulded Legolas head with a mixture of milliput/head dress from NECAs Kick Ass II Mother F'er for the Mohawk. So the wings, larger/feathered elements are comprised of a toybiz Archangel figure from the same line as the Magneto feet I used. To allow a whole new variety of poses I used arms from a Marvel Select Iron Man to bridge the gap. Now I can finally have a mix of shielding, attacking, resting and of course flight poses from him. Usual tools and materials were used: beloved dremel, milliput, epoxy resin, acrylic paints and patience. ![]() |
