As much as I like to rag on today's plain action figures, there are plenty of parts out there to update any character's look with a custom. My old Punisher custom was buried in a box for like 7 years, it looked okay but suffered from "painted meat" syndrome. I dug him up, stripped the useful parts and got to work cobbling together a new figure, something that leaned towards the comic style but without the white gloves and boots. I think the result is something Frank would wear when fighting super villains...or like he "borrowed" it from Captain America's locker. •Basic parts swapping, had to modify a few of the swivels because the pegs and holes were so incompatible. I love those gloves from the old Ultimate Cap figure, I would have used the boots too but I didn't want to go through the hassle of retrofitting the ankle joint. I also shaved away some material from the sides of the chest, this lets the arms bend across the chest more. •Sculpted the armor panels on the chest and back, also resculpted the back of the Electro shins so they're thicker. This way they look like armored gaiters or something, instead of having the scrawny ankles from before. •Sprayed with black VHT then went over the body with regular and flat blacks where needed for contrasting detail, which of course never shows up in my pictures lol. I added metal scuffs to the armor plates on the chest and hips, also the boots' toe caps. The ribbed dark grey parts are there to help break up all the black. Painted a dirty skull and it's done. ![]() |
