Decided to get back to my roots by doing some fine detail work, wrestling stuff I did just before I started Marvel Legends 2 years ago. Rob Van Dam is one of my favorite wrestlers, and it is disappointing that the only Elite or super-articulated figure we got from Mattel was a modern look. I wanted to capture an attire he wore early on in his WWE (WWF at the time) career. So I used an old Jakks Pacific Ruthless Aggression series 21 RVD figure from 2006 with the exact attire I wanted to do as a guide. Because I wanted him poseable (playable :p), I sanded all the joints I would paint, and then primed the figure in the grey you see here. Mixed up some light green, painted the details on and then the black/white parts. I just thinned the paint down so it applied easy, and used a steady hand to get the details right, being careful not to mess up (I didn't). So entirely painted the singlet, which I am very happy with and it was very fun to do! I tried to get it as close to factory as possible. Threw in a custom painted WWF Hardcore title too for good measure! Definitely interested in doing another RVD attire at some point. Thanks for looking! ![]() |

Damn that is clean, it looks even better than the factory paint apps because there aren't any weird off-center spots.
