In 1988 with his huge success of the arcade game Altered Beast, Sega game designer Makoto Uchida wanted to make a Hack and Slash beat'em up fantasy game the following year. The game was called Golden Axe. Mokoto Uchida was inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger Conan movie. Many references from that particular conan movie can be found in Uchida Golden Axe game. A trio of warrior fighters seeking revenge against a powerful warlord tyrant and his band of men that murdered many people and families to gain power to takeover the land. In Golden Axe, that powerful evil tyrant is named Death Adder.

Death Adder is one of the evil giants that survived the battle against the gods and gained power by roaming across the lands of Yuria with his army of barbarians massacring innocent women, children and men in their villages and towns trying to conquer the world to become a emperor. Many courageous men fought against Death Adder and perished in their efforts in trying to restore order in Yuria. Death Adder carried a hugh powerful Golden Axe weapon that make him almost unbeatable, that is until a trio of brave fighters named Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead put a end to his reign. Sega Golden Axe became a instant classic among gamers. Golden Axe crisp gameplay, music and fantasy atmosphere easily won over the fans of the fantasy genre. In defeating and killing the Golden Axe main boss Death Adder is reminiscent to Schwarzenegger Conan having revenge for the death of his parents and his people by killing Thulsa Doom and his men in the end of the movie.

Here what I did to created Death Adder and his Golden Axe weapon


Death Adder

Head: Funko Gathering Garruk, helment is from marvel legends Wharrl modified and used
      Neca Illidan weapon blades for the horns

Torso: ML Green Goblin combined to King Hulk lower legs

Arms : Toybiz first appearance Hulk with ML King Hulk right hand

Legs  : ML King Hulk, sanded off top leg strap and round texture on front boot strap.  Then re-sculpted knee muscles and front boot strap.

Armor : came from multiple fodder that was nailed down to the figure base.


Golden Axe Weapon

I used multiple pieces to craft his famous Axe. The deadly weapon itself is its own custom

Two Terrax baf weapon blades sanded and  glued together. Then I used plastic molding to form its shape. The shaft and backside blade is a combination of Funko Garruk weapon and ML Odin Baf staff

Finally painted Death Adder armor in deep burgundy,red and some metallics to give it some shine and a little bronze/copper shading to give the armor a worn look and he was done.

Hope you guys like what I did in making The final boss Death Adder. Sega Golden Axe has been a favorite to many gamers including myself and I hope I did this serie justice with this custom figure.
