Absolutely beautiful! Well kinda, I'm not too particularly proud of the head on this one. Anyway, in my seemingly non-stop love of Mettaton, I made Mettaton EX. I used a Marvel Legends Speed Demon as a base. The hands, proportions, and smile all seemed too perfect. So my first step was covering nearly ALL the muscle detail in Apoxie clay. Aside from the back muscles. Then sculpt the chamber for his soul, add the belt (which is made of rubber bands) make the soul, and sculpt the cuff of his boots. His "dial" is a sticker like the ones used for my original Mettaton. I bulked up his arms, and upper torso to more resemble his tube-like arms, and more simple upper body. Now I used the original Speed Demon head, which has googles instead of eyes. So with some time and effort I carved away at the face, and bulked his face back up to be more even with the mouth. And a separate dollop of clay for the eyeball. The hair was easy to copy, along with sculpting in the lines on his face. Now, I'm not too happy with the head, and I think that's mostly how I painted his eye. Because, by god, does he look deranged. The rest of the face though is silver aside from the eye and teeth. I was debating on white or silver for the face, but white blended everything together. And after seeing a 3d model of Mettaton EX with a silver face, I knew what I should do. The shoulder pads are small triangles of cardboard, folded to fit, and attactched via the apoxie clay. And I think glue as well, I can't remember. I was actually worried about doing the shoulder pads, thinking they'd be too big, hinder the articulation, and thinking of ways to attach them with articulation. But nope, they're just right. Paints used were: Anita's acrylic black and white Americana gloss enamel vivid violet And Americana Satin Metalic Silver. And by god, does it look amazing over black paint. It was actually reflective, and tricked me into thinking the clay was showing because I was wearing a green shirt. I could actually see my shirt reflecting in the paint, and that just astounds me. Last fun little fact, the torso only moves so far forward, that the soul camber is EXACTLY at the right spot not to hinder poseability. In hindsight, it's disappointing that it only moves so little forward, but hey it works for me. ![]() |
