As a teen, Kirt Niedrigh attempted to join the Legion of Super-heroes. Possessing the ability to absorb the residual energies of any powered being, he applied for membership as Absorbency Boy. However Saturn Girl sensed evil tendencies within and his application was rejected. Years later, and now an adult, Kirt reappeared now going by Earth-Man. Along with other earth-born rejected Legion applicants, Earth-Man formed the Justice League of Earth and sought to remove all aliens from the planet. However, they were defeated and imprisoned by the Legion. Later, Earth-gov forced the Legion to grant him membership. Begrudgingly they accepted him but eventually he earned his spot even sacrificing himself to save the Legion. While the last Paul Levitz run on Legion didn't last long, I did quite enjoy the story of redemption Earth-Man undertook during the run. He wasn't originally a member of my list of planned Legion customs, but a few months ago there wasn't much new hitting stores, and one can only see the same figures on the shelf so many times before they start to convince themselves maybe they do need that figure. Maybe, just, maybe, a custom could be produced from it. At least that's how I am, lol. So Earth-Man here was made using the Batman vs Superman Batfleck figure. I had to sand off the Batman emblem, do some resculpting on the torso, and sculpt his belt. Along with that I swapped out the arms for a pair from a DCUC Samurai for the arm bands. The head came from an old Marvel Legends Face-Off Steve Rogers figure with some nice chops added to him. The worst part was trying to paint this raised lines red and keeping them from running. Lot's of touch ups there. And that was it. Long Live the Legion! And thanks for looking! ![]() |
