While I only played the first game. I had always liked the overall look and design of the Helghast army.

So when I bought the replica helmet loose, I was 'meh' with how dull and toyish looking the helmet was and felt that it didn't do justice to the design of the helmet.

So since I like customizing and it was my first time repainting a replica helmet. I decided to give it a more menacing look that would fit with the dark theme of the Helghast army. After all, their homeplanet is considered a hazardous wasteland and it should be reflected in how the helmet should look.

So what I did was use citadel chaos black as a basecoat and the rest of the colors (mephiston red, nuln oil, fenrisian grey, runefang steel) and detailing were all done by hand.

I managed to get some neat looking stencils as a discount from the local arts and craft store and after looking through the designs.I settled for using a dragon like emblem on the front part of the helmet along with a serpent/eagle emblem on both sides of the helmet to denote the trooper as belonging to a elite force within the Helghast army.

Overall I am quite pleased with the results and looking forward to doing a crimson version next. My only mistake is basecoating the breathing nozzle as the constricted movement means that even with varnishing it will some flakes of paint to fall off. Lesson learned so the nozzle will be left untouched for the next project.
