David Graves made his debut in Justice League's "A Villain's Journey" story arc. He was a writer who nearly died during Darkseid's invasion, but the Justice League rescued David and his family. David's children eventually took ill and passed away shortly before his wife followed. Once the illness affects him, David concludes that he and his family were exposed to some type of bacteria which followed Darkseid from Apokolips, and blames the Justice League for not saving his family. David travels to the Valley of Souls where he finds the spirits of his wife, and two children. They bind with him and he takes form as what you see above. With his wife in his torso, and a child in each arm.
