Balin (Hobbit) Custom Action Figure
I finally got around to updating Balin. For this change I had to swap his legs and arms and do a paint job. The legs are Orc armour Frodo legs and the Lowe arms were changed to Jon snow Ines with Corronation Gimli hands made rotatable. The boots also came from Jon snow and were sculpted over. The overcoat I sewed and made so it could fit under the large collar Balin has but I prefer him without the coat. I also repainted the sword the correct colour as previously I kept it copper orange as I liked the colour based off the smaller figure. Balin is now articulated more than previously and can sit and I resculpted the belt buckle and used the Corronation Gimli figures skirt to replace my previous one so it can bend etc and have the detail required. I also repainted his hair and face. (Original work) So decided Balin should be next Dwarf I make as he's the "confidant or advisor" as Ken Stott put it. Played brilliantly giving us a very warm and likeable character adding to the sorrow we feel in fellowship. Anyways took a standard gimli sculpted heavily over him made a movie accurate sword. People say it's a mace but really Stott asked for an axe sword hybrid and we got this awesome unique blade. Made the sword from a gimli axe handle and Thorins dwarven sword. Enlarged the nose and sculpted over the old face and hair etc parts of his clothing come from Gandalf the grey cloaks like his belt or Thorins clothes like the collie. The detail I did is extreme if you look at the patterns which I pressed patterns into to get the imprint. Sculpted the boots also and made the belt parts to hold his sword the way it is in the film. didn't give him a smiling face as we're dealing with dwarves and he needs a serious face tho he's been known to have a great big smile lol. Nuff said happy with it etc. Please wait... |
