I snagged a few of these Force Awakens 'Assault Walkers' on clearance a few months back and finally got around to working on them with a few ideas in mind.

Anyone in this hobby knows how hard to find good 12 in/ 1/6 scale vehicles are to find. Between how big they have to be for the scale and how much plastic they typically use, it isn't surprising that there aren't many types out there, and when you do find them, they usually cost a pretty penny. So when GI Joe doesn't exactly have a huge amount to choose from, you can imagine there is even less for Star Wars figures.

These walkers were originally made for an 11 inch figure,but I saw potential in them as pretty solid 12 inch scaled vehicles. I think they worked well as you can see with the comparison to an official 1/6 Sideshow figure next too and on it, but I'll leave that up to you.

In any case, the walker was assembled, then cleaned. After that, I decided to make it a 501st style walker, so I gave it blue marking all around and painted the cannons a solid black. The original walker also had four sets of blaster rifles, which I thought was ugly as sin, so I removed the top set and replaced them with small spotlights.

When those dried, the walker was drybrushed with lots of silver to look worn and beaten. Next was a heavy coat of black wash to get in all those low areas to look dirty. Next, drybrushed the feet and legs with brown to make it look like it had been out in the field.

Lastly, I gave the whole thing a few LIGHT coats for black spraypaint and then sealed everything.

Like I said, I'm very happy with the results. With a lack of licensed 12 inch scale vehicles, this made a great conversion kit.
