My Legion shelf was feeling a bit hero heavy so I decided it was time to add a villain. I'd been planning on making Saturn Queen for a while, so it felt like a good time to give her a try. Now I need to make the rest of the Legion of Super-Villains, or at least Cosmic King and Lightning Lord. In due time... Like Saturn Girl, Saturn Queen is from...Saturn (I did a lot of research to unearth that fact). Like all Saturnians, she possesses mental abilities such as telepathy, and which she calls "super-hypnosis"' I decided to go with her more modern look because it still resembles her original costume, but has an updated flair I like more than her older design. Plus, it was at that time when Paul Levitz started writing the Legion again, and it felt like the real Legion of Super-Heroes again. I know some people like Five Years Later and the Mark Waid run but they never interested me much. It was during this series when Saturn Queen became more than just a female villain to stand alongside the men, taking charge of the Legion of Super-Villains herself, and becoming a much more deadly adversary. Sadly, this series didn't last much beyond a year, then Flashpoint happened and I stopped reading the Legion again. But DC Rebirth has hinted at their return, but in what form that will be has yet to be seen. There were rumors of a Hickman penned Legion, and that would certainly be something I'd be interested in. But I digress, Saturn Queen was made by starting with the Carol Ferris Star Sapphire body. I felt the articulation best lended itself to how the Supergirl skirt was look attached to the mid-torso (because the torso twist is higher up on the figure). Besides that I added some Dark Knight Catwoman stilettos, a pair od DCUC Raven arms, and a DCUC Saturn Girl head with the hairstyle slightly modified. I wasn't quite sure on the head selection going in, in fact I thought a Superwoman head would work well with the scowl, but in the end I decided the Saturn Girl head could be modified enough to look a little more menacing and the hairstyle was a lot more suitable to how Saturn Queen looked in this costume. Thanks for looking! ![]() |
