Being a long time gamer certainly has its advantages. One of them is ability to enjoy many incredible games on different platforms. One of my all time favourites is “Uncharted” series. I really enjoy Naughty Dog’s creations since original “Crash Bandicoot”. It took them a long time but with Playstation 3 power they could finally spread their wings and show what can they do. First three “Uncharted” games and “The Last Of Us” have shown how incredible PS3 games can look and set the bar incredibly high for other console developers. Because of this I’ve been following all the information I could get about “Uncharted 4” since the first trailer. When finally fourth installment of Drake’s adventures got into my hands I was very impressed by finished product and attention to detail. Ballance between action, plot, character building, exploration and puzzles was exactly what I was looking for. If you have PS4 you just have to own this game. If you don’t “Uncharted 4” is a perfect opportunity to go shopping. When I finished the game I was still very impressed so I decided to create something inspired by one of my favourite games. That’s why I’ve thought about joining the game and platform it was made on. This is how the idea was born. The idea of custom PS4 case inspired by “Uncharted”. How did it turn out? See for yourself. The case is completely hand made. The only exception was treasure chest which is not connected to the case. When building this custom I’ve used a few new materials for the first time. Some of them were wooden bars and modeling plates. While working on this custom/diorama I used wood burner a lot of times. It was a great tool to create some cracks and holes, as well as to replicate game logo. Playstation 4 fans probably already know that part of the case can be disassembled and easily replaced. I used this for my advantage. Wooden part with the wall can be removed and replaced by stock gloss black element with PS logo. It can also work other way around if you want to add some wood to standard case. The case was inspired mostly by one of the shrines you can find within game. In the middle I’ve added Avery’s crest. It belongs to the pirate, whose treasure is the most important part of “Uncharted 4” plot. Emblem was handsculpted just like most of the other parts you can see in the photo. To give my case some variety I’ve added a few rocks, sand and lianas, which gave this custom feeling much closer to what you can see in actual game. On the other side of case I’ve added a few small details. I’ve also glued few handsculpted panels and sand on the sides of the console. Now it has more rugged surface. Other side of the console was covered with some modeling tiles. After painting wood looks both like something you can encounter in Uncharted gameplay and find as part of oldschool electronics. The case was designed not to disturb any crucial console components. LED strip is just right under the wall, which nicely illuminates parts. Touch sensitive buttons are also easily accessible. USB ports and disc tray stayed fully functional as well. Modified case is still able to be presented both horizontally and vertically. When all the parts were glued on the case I’ve started painting the whole thing. After applying some undercoat I handpainted the case and all the details. Stock parts close to disc tray and USB ports were weathered and drybrushed to match whole diorama. I left black gloss strip in the middle unpainted to contrast rest of the case. That’s all I wanted to show you today. I hope you like my custom Uncharted PS4 case. Now I am waiting for Drake’s action figure from NECA to give this diorama the last touch:). In the meantime please feel free to comment and ask questions. ![]() |
