Hammerhead is a gangster who butted heads with the wrong people, and almost lost his life for it. Criminal surgeon Jonas Harrow found the gangster and operated on him, replacing most of his skull, and reshaping it, with steel. After the surgery, all the gangster could remember was his love of Al Capone, so he patterned himself after the 1930s mobster and started a new gang, eventually becoming enemies with Spider-Man.
For most of my customs, I try to use M.L. parts exclusively, but the Black Mask body fit my needs to perfectly to avoid. Painting the figure was difficult, however. The white plastic did not want paint on it. I had to repaint many times, and try to glue the paint on! The head, of course, was from the Chameleon's variant heads. I cut off the widow's peak to straighten his hairline, more like his original appearances, and widened his jawline.
