Hello all! Here is my custom Spawn figure, influenced by the Spawn Armageddon story arc. I saw another Spawn customizer (Spawnsauce) tackle this guy, and decided to give it a go myself. Spawn is one of my favorite comic characters and I have collected numerous of McFarlane Spawn figures over the years, but always wanted a Marvel Legends style, highly articulated figure that maintained a high level of sculpted detail.

He uses a ML Black Panther base body, ML Superior Venom hands and feet, and a scratch made painted fabric cape with wiring all over the place. This guy took a very long time to complete, as everything on this figure was completely sanded down and sculpted over to give him the organic look that he had in the comic at the time. Sculpting the striations in his muscles while keeping the musculature was a big challenge. I used black milliput for the majority of the sculpting, which helps out immensely when it comes to paint rub (not too much rubbing though). I've only done one custom with sculpting before this guy, so there was a lot I had to learn in the process of sculpting this guy. And while extremely challenging, at no point was it frustrating, and I was always eager to keep working on him. The two white parts on his mask were especially rewarding once they were finished, and are a more stylized version of what his mask normally looks like.

The cape was very difficult to make, and I must have made 5 or 6 before I finally made the right one that fit and looked natural. It is multi-pieced (again, copying Spawnsauce's rendition of this figure), and is glued together with liquid stitch, and then painted with different shades of red.

All in all I am very pleased with how this figure turned out, and he proudly sits on my desk now, watching me sculpt more figures that will never live up to his standards :) Let me know what you all think!
