After making my ideal Vader I decided to go back and make him in the style of the first film. The original costume is quite different and a lot more rough around the edges. Which makes it an easy custom on the whole.

I painted the shoulder armour a uniform matte black and glued his helmet shut. The softness of the helmet sculpt lends itself to this version of Vader. So I felt no need to replace it with the Bandai Kit helmet.

Then I sculpted the gauntlets and gloves to match the ones used in the first film and painted them accordingly.

After that it was a simple task of dressing the figure correctly. I made a new under tunic and cloak out if some black cotton material and sourced a smaller chain for use around the neck. The biggest change is the under tunic is worn over the shoulder armour.
